2009 Homeland Security Science & Technology Stakeholders Conference – East

The 2009 Homeland Security S&T Stakeholders Conference East took place May 18-21 at the Ronald Reagan International Trade Center in Washington, DC, presented by the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) with subject matter support provided by the Science & Technology Directorate (S&T) of the Department of Homeland Security. The theme of the conference was “Science and Technology Change Everything”.

The Science & Technology Directorate is the gateway into DHS for innovative technologies and new ideas. This particular conference focused on the future of the S&T Directorate while highlighting the innovative research efforts that DHS had underway in the U.S. and around the world to make the nation safer. Attendees from the private sector, academia, and all levels of government learned of exciting business opportunities for partnership with S&T for science and technology research. Exhibitors met extremely well-qualified visitors in the conference exhibition hall.

All the senior leadership of the Science and Technology Directorate spoke during the event. Other notable speakers included key leadership figures from the Department of Homeland Security, Members of Congress and Senators, Hill staffers, and leaders from other organizations partnering with S&T in science & technology research. There was also a significant international component to the event. Key program managers and other staff of the S&T Directorate were broadly represented throughout the S&T Stakeholders Conference East, and registered attendees had extensive opportunities for formal and informal interaction with Directors, Division Heads, and Program Managers from the S&T Directorate.
